Guest is equivalent to God!

"Atithi Devo Bhava" is a famous Sanskrit verse in many cultures, meaning that guests are equivalent to God. When you have guests coming home, you feel enthusiastic about meeting with them and enjoying them. Usually, you greet your guests for a definite short period. Beyond a certain period, it might become troublesome to the family if guests stay for way too long. It can sometimes interfere with family matters and contribute to unnecessary unpleasantness and awkwardness.

Ideally, guests should be respectful of a family's time and shouldn't overstay or interfere in personal matters. Besides, Vastu suggests guidelines to maintain harmony between the family and guests by placing the guest's room appropriately.

In Vastu, the North-West direction is best for placing a guest room. The North-West direction represents the air elements of the five basic elements. By nature, it is mobile and unstable. Since it is ideal for guests to be short-term, the North-West direction is suitable for placing a guest room. Vastu also recommends putting the bathroom in this direction.

Sometimes, it is not feasible to place a guest room in the north-west corner. In such instances, one can also consider placing a guest room in other rooms along with North and East directions. In large construction, sometimes separate guest houses are built to put a guest house in the plot's North-West direction.

It is best to avoid North-East and South-West directions for guest rooms. The North-East direction is suitable for a prayer room. The Southwest corner must be occupied by the head of the family only.
